The student council is run by several outstanding students from Hagerman High School. One of those outstanding student council members is our freshman friend, Jackson wood. Jackson is our student body vice president; he takes over when our president Kinley Whitmarsh is gone. Jackson was asked what the point of having a student council was and he replied with, “To help keep the school organized or in order.” It always makes me curious what they talk about in meetings, like is it confidential information or not? They mainly talk about what is going on in the school in the upcoming weeks; so, no it is not confidential. Unless it is homecoming week, I don’t normally hear them call for meetings; so, when do they have meetings? It just depends on what is going on, like big or small events, for the school. During homecoming week, they had many meetings because homecoming is a big event for our school. So, what if you want to be on the student council? How do you be elected? Jackson answered this question when he said, “ Because of covid, we had to make videos and then the whole student body votes for you.”

FFA has evolved from its original way of being; it is now not only offered to people who live in a rural area, but also to those who live in cities.
“"My favorite part of FFA is that it's really hands-on, so when you go to all these contests, you can be right up next to the animals, walking around, talking to people, it's not a structured sit down listen to a lecture like a lot of school activities are," Kinley, President of the Hagerman FFA chapter.

FFA is a national organization that promotes leadership in students. It also helps students with their career and teaches them how to function in society. There are two different types of contests that FFA competes in; LDEs and CDEs. LDE stands for leadership development event, and CDE stands for career development event. LDEs mainly focus on public speaking, while CDEs mainly focus on judging animals.
The Hagerman FFA is accepting new people all year round. The only requirement is to be in an AG class; some of the AG classes include welding, food Science, Metal Fabrication, Range, and AG 180. FFA was created by students that wanted to be more involved. FFA used to be offered to just farm kids, but now anyone can join. FFA used to stand for Future Farmers of America, but it has since changed and is now the National FFA Organization. You may think that FFA is just for people that are going to have a career that involves agriculture, but FFA can help with every career.
Now you may be wondering, "why would someone even want to be in FFA" and "FFA is just extra school work", but FFA helps with leadership and career skills, you can sell animals to make a profit, and it is also somewhat competitive. "It really helped me to find my career path and what I want to do in life," Kinley, the President of the Hagerman FFA chapter stated. FFA can be competitive sometimes, but if you don't like competitive competitions, you can always find an alternative contest.
Kinley said, "My favorite part of FFA is that it's really hands-on, so when you go to all these contests, you can be right up next to the animals, walking around, talking to people, it's not a structured sit down listen to a lecture like a lot of school activities are." FFA functions allow you to meet new people, learn many things, and travel to many different places.

Congratulations to all of the royalty!
“Brooklyn Devries was asked if she wanted to give a shout out to anyone and her response was, ”All the girls in the middle school because they've all been really supportive and have made a very big deal about it and made me feel very special.””
The Recap
The very first day of homecoming, each class decorated part of a hallway. On the second day, the student council put on an assembly; they had every class play against each other in volleyball. This may surprise you but the teachers pulled through and won against the seniors. (That was fun). On Wednesday, the assembly consisted of many relay races. The following night, there was a carnival/ barbeque to raise money for classes and sports. Mr. Wadsworth, Mrs. Henslee, Miss.Brooks got dunked by students and guests, there were chicken races, and many people got pied in the face. The day before the homecoming game, there was a parade; the parade had many different floats made by each class or team. After the parade, the businesses were asked to vote on their favorite float. We had very few businesses vote, but with the minimal votes, the Freshmen float won; the winning float was a pirate ship made out of cardboard. In the homecoming game, Hagerman played against Shoshone.

Brooklyn Devries was asked if she wanted to give a shout out to anyone and her response was, ”All the girls in the middle school because they've all been really supportive and have made a very big deal about it and made me feel very special.” This response shows the care our school has towards other people.
Morgan Seamons was asked how she felt about becoming homecoming queen and she responded with, ”It was an experience I will never forget. It will definitely be a big memory from high school when I graduate.”
