The Hagerman FFA chapter adviser is Mr. Knapp. FFA is a fun way to express yourself and not stare at a computer screen. FFA has grown and still is growing. We interviewed Mr. Knapp. When he was asked about the contests that are upcoming in the next month, Mr. Knapp said “We were going to have code of conduct code of chapter meetings and parliamentary procedure however got postponed” Ellie asked, “What do you get if you win?” Mr. Knapp said “well a lot of times you get scholarships, sometimes you get cash awards” Recently Saree and Danica won $750 each for placing third in agriscience. Ellie asked, “ Why would you want to do FFA?” Mr. Knapp said “ Probably out of all the activities we have at school the number one scholarship receiver is FFA scholarships another reason to so FFA is it's more of a hand on real-world approach to education and if you want to get out and see the world travel and experience things rather than shove your face into a book and be bored to death this is the way to do it”

"I love to read and do sports along with hanging out with my friends.”

Last month's student of the month Wynter Adams and Codey McCorey. These were the people that were nominated as the student of the month of Hagerman High school. They were both asked a few questions about being the student of the month. When I asked Wynter have you ever been nominated for something big? She said, “I have been nominated to be the class president at my last school.” I thought that this was cool because she is new to the school and people would like to get to know her. I asked Wynter What are your goals for this school year? She said “ My goals for this year are to get at least a 3.8-grade point average and to join as many sports as I can because I love to do sports and to be a part of a team.” Based on this interview I can tell that she loves sports. Then I asked her Activities you like to do? She said, “ I love to read and do sports along with hanging out with my friends.”

"I am a firm believer in luck and the harder I work the more I have of it".---Thomas Jefferson

This month’s Spotlight of the Month was Mr. Wadsworth. He was awarded Spotlight of the Month because he works hard and should be recognized for it. Mr. Wadsworth is the Principal of the Hagerman Jr./Sr. High School. His job requires him to “create a successful learning environment for students, staff, and faculty.” He does not only do this but so much more. He plans to make a school that offers necessary resources to students, where the staff feel important, and a place that students want to attend. On average, he works 12-14 hours a day, but occasionally, he will work for 24 hours straight. Covid-19 has had a huge impact on this year's school year. Mr. Wadsworth has had to make many changes in the way in which the school operates this year. He believes that “We have an intelligent student body and they are finding ways to stay educated and learn.” Covid-19 has not only impacted the lives of students and the school community, but also Mr. Wadsworth himself. When asked how Covid-19 has impacted him personally, his response was, “As a parent now, watching my children have to wear a mask, and keep their beautiful personalities covered with that mask, has been hard to watch.” Mr. Wadsworth has done so much for this school and deserves to be recognized for his hard work. Thank you for everything you do.
