Student of the Month-March

Hagerman High School picks 2 students each month, one from the Junior High and one from the High School, to be named Student of the Month. Being Student of the Month means that you have been recognized for things you have been doing. When someone is picked to be the Student of the Month, they are asked questions about themselves and there is a paper with their picture and the answers to the questions they were asked hung up on a wall, so when someone walks in the door to the school, they can see it.

It doesn’t matter whether someone is older or younger, or male or female, they have a chance of being picked as student of the month. The two students that were picked to be Student of the Month for March 2021 were 2 exceptional students, Alexis Beutler and Kenya Houser.

Alexis Beutler is a 7th Grader, and Kenya Houser is a Senior. When asked how they felt about being picked as Student of the Month, Alexis replied with, “It feels great to be recognized as student of the month. I felt surprised and grateful.” Sometimes even little accomplishments can surprise you and help boost your confidence.

Kenya was asked who her role model was, and she said, “My dad is my role model because he has always demonstrated hard work. My dad has taught me to do things outside of my comfort zone and not to be afraid to be different. He has always shown respect and concern for others.” Parents often set great examples for their kids and just want the best for them no matter what.
